After the success of the Inquisitor's Palace Project which was the first in this series of on site teaching projects for school children,
I decided to target one of our beautiful pre-historic Temples, the Tarxien Temples. The Tarxien Temples is a prehistorical site which is very popular
with school visits, since it is a topic found in both the Primary and Secondary History Curriculum. This teacher resource book involves a number
of tasks which students can conduct during their visit at the Tarxien Temples. It is very important for teachers to read this booklet before the actual
visit. Each learning objective behind the particular activity is explained and there are also instructions for teachers and suggestions as regards
actual class management on site. It is also important to note that the teaching methods in this series are based on "New History" teaching
methods rather than traditional history teaching. The tasks involve investigative learning based on history thinking skills and concepts, while at the
same time students are gaining historical knowledge and understanding. Whilst thanking you for your attention, I hope that you and your class will
soon par- take in all the activities which form part of this project. This document can be purchased from Heritage Malta or on site at the
Tarxien Temples. |
